Bio

I was born in Kosice, Czechoslovakia. From a very young age I was always interested in art, art history, aesthetics, architecture and industrial design, and I was totally hooked on movies.
The great Russian Film Director Andrei Tarkovsky with his evocative and poetic cinematic approach has been a major influence. Also, at very young age, I discovered in my father’s library, Jonathan Swift’s masterpiece – Gulliver’s Travels (the serious version) and that book had a profound influence on me, especially the incredible illustrations by the great French cartoonist and illustrator – Jean Ignace Isidor Granville (1803-1847). Naturally, all of these elements became foundations of my professional skills and are reflected throughout my work.
My father, an architect, always was offering endless encouragements and support. I remember constantly browsing through his Architectural Magazines and Art Books, marveling at the pictures and the illustrations, all of this at a very young age, prior to my school years.
After Graduation from the Institute of Technical Sciences (Faculty of Architecture), inspired by the rich landscape of art, history and culture in my native country, I began my pursuit of a career in creative media. I was trained and worked at The Czechoslovak State Television. In 1985 I moved to Canada, and worked in the Film and the Television industry. In 1992 I established my own photography practice. I accept projects globally.
